My friends ZeeAnna! and Burnt Umber tipped me off today to a new search engine operating out there called Imagelogr. Only it’s not like your traditional image search engine. Most image search engines like Google or Bing include a link back to the images that they search from the web.
Not so with Imagelogr.

Steven Evatt and I did a presentation on building search engine optimization into web applications. Steven is the guru at the Houston Chronicle that has raised their rank on Google News from #47 in the country to #2 behind only the New York Times. I love having people like this in Houston.

Do you remember pages like these that weren’t parodies? The internet archive is like littered with web sites earnestly created by teachers, either trying to learn arcane brackets and tags or locked into horrible desktop applications purported to make web page construction "easy" (the fine print is "and ugly").
Blog software (especially WordPress!) has made most of this a dim memory (well except for some folks that go a little MySpace crazy with widgets) as the act of creating web content shifts from knowing about tags and code to content creation. And they get added functionality (search, rss, embedded media, archiving, and more) that they could never concoct out of HTML tables.
